Brothers Auguste and Antonin Daum were educated as glass artists by their father in the Daum studio. They showcased some of their work at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, earning acclaim as early members of the Art Nouveau style. When the brothers adopted cameo glass, they devised a new technique combining painting, acid bathing and enameling to create this piece’s distinguished frosted look and depth within the glass.
