Florida Pink Ignition, 1985

Acrylic on canvas

Museum Purchase, 2016.4

Inspired by views of space shuttle launches that he could see from his house, Snyder created Florida Pink Ignition to capture and represent the exhilaration one would feel at the moment of takeoff. This work is typical of his “Windows Into Paradise” series in which flat planes frame serene landscapes, creating an illusion of depth.
